What is Saju
Saju (사주), also called Saju Palja, is Korea's traditional birth-chart reading. Like Western astrology, it starts from the exact moment you were born. Instead of planets and zodiac signs, it uses the Korean lunar calendar. And unlike tarot, which draws cards in the moment, your Saju is fixed at birth and never changes.
Your birth year, month, day and hour each become a pillar, written with two characters: a heavenly stem and an earthly branch. Four pillars and eight characters is exactly what "Saju Palja" means.
Those eight characters are read through the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Where astrology talks about your sun sign, Saju talks about your day pillar. Koreans have used Saju for centuries to reflect on personality, relationships and timing, and many still check theirs before a new year, a new job or a wedding.
Your report is built on precise Korean lunar-calendar calculations and interpreted through the traditional framework of stems, branches and elements.
